The 2009 annual meeting of the Woodstock Community was convened by Mayor Richard Mann at 5:00 PM on July 4, 2009. Approximately 30 residents were in attendance.
Mayor Richard expressed appreciation to wife Cathy for hosting the movie nights and the potluck dinner. A big thank you was given to Brandy and Kevin Mann and their helpers for planning and coordinating the Pirates on the Pungo parade and games. Another big thank you was extended to Brandy Mann and Sarah Mann for their work on the web page and blog. Everyone agreed that Brandy's photography is exceptional. Joe Hudson was recognized for providing outstanding fireworks year after year. Mayor Richard thanked his executive committee and recognized all former mayors in attendance.

Road Commissioner Arie DeHoog had no report. TJ Mann recognized the excellent work that Arie has done keeping the road in super shape.
A motion was made and seconded to keep the annual town fee at $100 per household. A counter motion was made and seconded to reduce the fee to $75. The vote left the fee at $100. Discussion ensued about expenses for the community. The rock hauling fee may be higher next year because of gas prices. All expenses (rentals, fireworks, etc.) for this year's festivities were donated. The $250-275 budgeted will be rolled over for next year's festivities. There was consensus to fund future year's festivities from the town budget. Mayor Richard will present a budget proposal for 2010 to his executive committee. Jan DeHoog requested that the parade time be pushed back from 2 PM to 3 PM, to allow time for lunch and naps after the Belhaven parade. The McKeand family graciously volunteered to plan and coordinate next year's parade and festivities on Saturday, July 3, 2010. The theme will be "Under the Sea".
Mayor Richard reported that the Tideland EMC engineers quoted $4.75 per foot to convert existing overhead power lines to underground, plus $300 per house connection fee. Those residents with overhead power lines expressed no interest in preceding.
Mayor Richard requested assistance for the community with two projects. Brandy will be updating the community directory and will make entries of address, phone number and e-mail for all residents, frequent guests and former residents. Access to the information will be limited. Second, Mayor Richard would like to update the "History of Woodstock" that was published in 1988 for our 250th anniversary celebration. Residents are asked to contribute to the "Modern History of Woodstock" with stories about former Woodstock residents and the background histories of current properties.
Mayor Richard plans to apply for a grant to obtain a community AED (Automatic External Defibrillator). All residents were encouraged to attend classes in BLS (Basic Life Support), including use of an AED. "Push a button and save a life". The consensus was to locate the AED centrally, perhaps under Jeff and Johanna's house.
Elections of officers resulted in the reelection of Richard Mann, Mayor, Susan Mann, Treasurer and Arie DeHoog, Road Commissioner.
The meeting was concluded and everyone was invited back to Richard and Cathy's for the pot-luck supper, fireworks and second movie night.
