"Sara grew up in Woodstock during the summers. Our cotttage is now Richard and Cathy Mann's house. (soon to be moved!) Sara went on the become a RN at ECU and felt the call to missions. She has been in Togo, West Africa, for 2 years now. Her ministry begins by meeting the people's needs physically, and then reaching out to them spiritually. She tends wounds that have not been treated for 5 to 10 years. She also helped begin a feeding program for the many malnourished children in the area. Together with the evangilist she works with, they have opened a clinic in their town. They began by seeing and treating 8 people a day and now have increased to 60 each time they open. They travel out to outlying villages and are given people to treat that the local witch doctor has been unable to heal. Every patient is must be prayed over before treatment, so that they will realize that the healing comes from God. Sara is also involved in many one on one Bible studies with her patients and with the young girls in the community. Sara has had big changes in her personal life as well. She is engaged to the son of the evangelist that she works with. Dovene, her fiancee, and Sara will be coming to the states the end of June and are going to be married the end of July. They will be staying in the states for the next 4 years while Dovene attends Johnson Bible College in Knoxville Tenn. He plans to go into Bible translation and then Sara and he will return back to Togo. While they are in the states, the clinic work and feeding the children programs will continue. Sara and Dovene hope to be a link to help keep the fund that they need continueing. The needs are staggering, but any support raised is greatly appreciated.
